DISCOVERY CENTER

This two-story Natural History and Science building has 34,000 square feet of gallery space introducing visitors to the unique relationships between the San Joaquin Valley and the human population beginning with the Tachi Yokuts people between 1000-500 B.C.. The structure is a concrete shell with a landscaped earthen covering. The lower floor features dioramas relating to the San Joaquin River, and the ground level second floor will have a Visitors Center, Gift Shop, exhibition galleries, and a day care center. A small third floor area will house an observatory with a state-of-the-art digital telescope, and exterior terraces for portable telescopes and special events.
