GOLDER CHARTER ACADEMY

The 35,500 SF charter school serving grades Transitional Kindergarten through 8th grade is a vision of Robert Golden, a Fresno native former NFL player who attended the University of Arizona and played for the Pittsburgh Steelers. Having returned to his hometown, he has dedicated himself to educating Fresno’s underserved population through a unique curriculum of “learning through experience” built around environmental education in partnership with the Fresno Chaffee Zoo. The school will be located adjacent to the zoo so that the students can learn about various subjects through regular activities in the zoo. The environmental emphasis is also incorporated into the design of the school. The design highlights climate, nature and energy, all of which can be a basis for a variety of educational tools.
